Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum toxin type A, better known as BOTOXR, is one of the most popular and effective anti-ageing treatment. Botulinum toxin injections relax the muscles on the face, thus preventing them from tightening. This prevents wrinkles from forming and assists in smoothing out existing wrinkles. The two most common types Botulinum toxin products used in South Africa BOTOXR and DysportR.

The treatment is performed in Dr Ngwenya’s office procedure room with the patient awake, where tiny amounts of Botulinum toxin are injected into target areas. The number of injections required depends on a variety of factors, some of which would include the severity of wrinkling and the surface extent of the area being treated.

Mild discomfort is expected during the procedure, with transient bruising experienced by some shortly after the procedure.
Results are often expected three days after injection and last for an average of 3 – 6 months.
